Title: VA shredding claims documents?
Tags: VA vawatchdog veterans rights
Blog Entry: I was reading a story this weekend regarding a 2009 report from the Veterans Administration Office of the Inspector General, stating that the VA had been engaging in a policy of "shredding" drop mail and documents related to claims for veterans. One employee stated that he would go home on Friday with incoming documents and drop mail stacked all over the desks, but when he would return on Monday, it'd be gone. Another employee (involved in the shredding) was promised a bonus for "being so cooperative and handling the team shredding", according to sources. Now, we're not talking old paperwork not needed, we're talking about incoming mail that hasn't been processed or filed yet! Death certificates, award letters, and applications, necessary in processing VA claims. Check out http://www.vawatchdog.org/ for those employee statements and more information on this tragic story! I thought the Myrtle Beach Grapevine and Rome Grapevine readers would like to know about this, if you hadn't already heard. Greg Myrtle Beach Grapevine.com Rome Grapevine.com
